Review: Soap & Glory Glad Hair Day Conditioner

This was a bit of a mistake buy, I was meant to pick up the shampoo but somehow being the ditsy girl I am I grabbed this instead! I'm glad I did as it smells amazing, as Soap & Glory products do.

It claims to de tangle, gloss, protect and strengthen and I did notice my hair was slightly more glossy after using this but not amazingly so. As for the other claims I can't really comment as my hair doesn't tangle an awful lot and I haven't noticed whether my hair has strengthened since using this but it smells amazing and doesn't weigh my hair down in the slightest!

I would recommend this if you have quite limp, oily hair as it doesn't leave any residue on your hair to weigh it down but if your hair needs a bit more TLC then this probably won't be nourishing enough for you.

Review: Skin79 Water Drop BB Cream

After trying and falling in love with Skin79's Triple Function BB Cream a couple of months ago now and converting my Mum as well I spotted this online and had to buy it!

It's much more watery in texture than the regular BB cream and the coverage is a bit lighter as a result but that makes it perfect for wearing in the summer when the thought of a full coverage foundation makes you wince as you imagine it melting straight off your face! I would say the coverage is sheer to light and this makes it very comfortable to wear.

I do prefer my the other BB Cream and I don't think this will replace that any time soon but it's definitely worth looking at as a light weight bit of colour for the gym or just lazing around on the beach!

It's about £7 from eBay, there are many reputable sellers and some, not so great so be sure to check reviews before you buy!

Review: Soap & Glory Calm One

I'm usually a bit sceptical about calming bath products because the majority of the time they smell like lavender and not much else and I'm not entirely fond of lavender at all. I do like some lavender scented things like LUSH Ikle Baby Bot and their Twilight bath ballistics although that does not smells a lot like lavender to me at all, haha but usually, I will avoid it and thereby avoid relaxing/calming bits and bobs but I gave this baby a quick sniff in Boots and yay! Think Johnsons Baby Bath come Clean On Me. Ah-may-zing.

It is the perfect combination of calming and girly and I actually did find it rather relaxing! It's super moisturising as well with it's added body lotion and it actually feels like conditioner. It doesn't give a massive amount of bubbles but I'm not all that bothered for the most part because I'm into the bath bombs and melts but if you're wanting a tonne of bubbles, this will give you some but not a lot.

To sum this review up, I love it I just wish is bubbled up just ever so slightly more.

Any other S&G recommendations for me?

Review: Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation

After using BB Cream for a good few months now I didn't think I'd really ever be converted back to a foundation but I have seen so many great reviews of the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation I just had to try it! I am Mummy to a 2 year old who has never slept through the night so needless to say I pretty much always look knackered so when I saw this foundation had an anti-fatigue effect I was sold.

I have read about 101 reviews on this where 90% of people say there is hardly any shimmer/the shimmer doesn't transfer blah blah blah...Lies! As you can tell from the photographs above the bottle and my fingers (that I used to apply the foundation) are flipping covered but the shimmer is very small and evenly dispersed but it is definitely detectable on your face if you look closely in a mirror. It probably wouldn't be noticeable from a normal distance or to your boyfriend. Although you could probably shake a pot of glitter on your face and most men wouldn't notice. It doesn't have a ton of shimmer but if you look in the mirror in a well lit room or outside then you will be able to see it.

The coverage it good, I'd say medium to full coverage which is definitely buildable. I have pretty good skin at the moment but if I get blemishes they scar immediately and this foundation covered those marks pretty well. It's quite a pain to blend for me but that is more than likely because I'm used to a BB Cream which I can just slap on and not pay much attention to so if your used to foundation then this will be fine.

It is scented, it has a light, fresh kind of cucumber scent which is nice and doesn't stay long which is even nicer but it's worth noting if your skin isn't keen on scented products.

As far as the claims for the "Anti Fatigue Effect! and the "Radiant Glow" I will have to agree, I do look noticeable more awake and my skin definitely looks nice and glowy so thumbs up from me! Thanks Rimmel!

Soap & Glory Haul

Now the title isn't completely truthful because I have a sneaky extra in here, hope you don't mind! If you didn't already know Boots have their 3 for 2 offer on again on a wide selection of goodies including Soap & Glory so naturally I had to go and buy 3 things. Damn you Boots. Damn you. But yes, I have had my eye on a couple of these bits for a while and whilst in Boots yesterday managed to buy yet more things.

This isn't all of what I bought but I didnt think cotton pads and baby wipes were all that interesting so I havent included them although the baby wipes I bought were by Simple and have cute little teddies on the packaging. Win.

Here is a little low down of the bits I bought:

Glad Hair Day Conditioner - This was actually a mistake as I was meant to grab the shampoo but with a hungry toddler shouting for "crispies" I didn't really look porperly obviously. The packaging is pretty similar so that probably didnt help either and I'm currently weighing up whether or not to keep this and buy the shampoo too or go back and swap it. Decisions. I like the smell of it, it just smells like pretty much every other Soap & Glory product but I think the shampoo had an ever so slightly more pear or peachy smell. I am aware they are completely different scents I just can't really put my finger on exactly what the shampoo was like. I can't comment further than the scent as I haven't tried it yet because of the above dilemma.

Calm One Bubble Bath - This smells like Johnsons Baby Bedtime come Soap & Glory Clean On Me. In other words, this smells amazing. It's the perfect mix between a lovely girly scent and a relaxing one. Usually I find relaxing bath products to be just a massive kick of lavendar and nothing much else but this is amazing. Again, I haven't tried it yet but scent wise I am sure I'm going to love this.

Heel Genius - I haven't really heard much about this so bought it on a whim really. It's a foot cream that smells like Soap & Glory. I'm not a fan of feet, can you tell? I'm kind of scared about slathering cream on my feet and have been known to just squirt it on the tops of my feet and rub it in with them to avoid hand to foot contact. It's basically hand food for your feet. Urgh. Feet. It smells amazing though and I will be reviewing this but dont worry, no naked feet will be in the photographs.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation - This is naturally the wrong shade for my skin. My neck does not tan so my entire body minus my neck this matches pretty well so I'm going to have to buy some Clarins Liquid Bronze to stop my neck blinding people. I really like it though, it's a bit more shimmery than others had me to believe but so far so good. I will be reviewing this soon and I have a face of the day coming up. I got the shade True Ivory for those who are wondering. I was going to get Ivory but it was just way too pink and orange for me. True Ivory is less yellow/orange and more my light tan colour so this will be great for Summer shade wise.

If anyone has any requests post/video wise then please let me know because I'm struggling a bit anxiety/panic wise so that interfers with my train of thought so requests would help a lot right now.

Review: No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream

The No7 vouchers from Boots always make me feel like I need to use them and I always end up buying a tonne of new bits because the savings are so good not to miss out! I love the brand and 9/10 I will love whatever I buy from them and this had been on my wish list for a while.

I picked up the shade fair which is a bit too orange for me but I can just about get away with it at the moment but it's worth mentioning because if you are even fairer than me then this will more than likely be too dark for you.

Other than the colour I do really like it, I got the normal/oily version and it does a good job at controlling my oily patches without enhancing my dry patches. It's quite moisturising, I noticed my skin looks a lot more hydrated when I was using this and it didn't break me out.

The coverage is pretty light, it is considerably lighter than the Skin79 BB Cream and the consistency is slightly wetter so it really does feel as if I'm wearing no make up. It does a good job at evening out my skin tone it's just no as good at hiding blemishes so I did find I had to just a concealer with this unlike Skin79 where I can almost always get away with just building it on areas that need a little extra covering.

I do like this I just wish it was a little less orangey. It'll probably be okay when I'm tanned but this will definitely be too dark for the winter months which is a shame and I do feel as though it's more like a tinted moisturiser rather than a BB Cream.

It retails at just over £12 but with a £5 off voucher it's worth giving a go!

The Sunday Post #9

I did have something else planned for todays post but I just couldn't resist showing you guys this super cute little trio! I absolutely adore these frilly socks! They are just so completely perfectly girly and for £8 for all three a bargain too!

They're from Topshop if the first photograph didn't give that away and I will definitely be buying a few more before the offer ends.

Who said socks were boring!?

Caudalie Caudalie Caudalie

I love love love Caudalie. Everything I've tried so far I've loved, the quality is amazing and I am slowly becoming addicted! These are a few of their products I've tried and today's post I shall be sharing my thoughts on them, so get ready for some raving!

Grape Water Moisturising Spray - This is basically grape water in an aerosol can and I bought this in the hope it'd be a cheaper alternative for the Beauty Elixr. It's not but I do really love this! I use it at night after cleansing and it really adds some moisture back into my skin which seems to have been becoming drier and drier over the past few months. I did try this over and under my make up but felt it made my face look a little too shiny so I do tend to only use this at night now or if my skin is looking super dry which seems to be working nicely. It doesn't have much of a scent at all, I was expecting it to smell pretty grapey but there really isn't a noticeable scent at all.

Beauty Elixr - This is my favourite thing ever right now! I was quite put off by the scent to start with as it is quite a strong, strange one but now I have grown to quite like it. It's quite a minty scent, I think it smells like a stronger version of Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish with a big whiff of mint. This is seriously the most amazing thing I've tried, it's refreshing, moisturising, makes my skin glow and keeps blemishes at bay. I love everything about this.

Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum - This is a sample size but I will no doubt be purchasing the full size once this has run out. Now this does have a lovely grape scent to it which is really lovely and fresh. My skin drinks this right up and by morning my skin is left noticeable more hydrated and a lot happier. I use a tonne less BB cream after using this so the added moisture is really noticeable. My only gripe with this is that it breaks me out a little, nothing major but two out of three times of using it I will get one or two spot where I applied it. They are gone in a day or two and are easily covered with make up but it was worth mentioning. I do still really like it though.

So those are the three Caudalie bits I've tried but I have my eye on other things I want to try haha!

Just a Little Haul

I can never seem to go into Boots without coming out with a bunch of little things and so yesterdays quick visit inevitably resulted in several purchases that I thought I'd share with you lovely people :)

I went in for a new sippy cup for Eloise and a couple of baby toothbrushes and actually came out with some Huggies Pull Ups, Dove Nourishing Oil Leave-in Conditioner, two L'Oreal Glam Shine Miss Candy Lip Glosses, No7 BB Cream, two Wispa chocolate bars, a big bar of Cadbury's Bubbly with white chocolate inside and a bright pink sippy cup. At least I managed to remember one of the things I actually went in for.

The Dove conditioner smells amazing, just like the Express Treatment Conditioner which I love! I am yet to give this a try but a review will be coming soon I should imagine.

The No7 BB Cream is something I was planning on buying at some point anyway and I used a voucher so it only cost £6 instead of £12. I haven't tried this yet but I have had a little swatch and I think I will like it. Again, review soon.

The two lip glosses I have been keeping an eye out for and the buy one get one half price just made it impossible not to buy them. Damn you Boots! They are lovely though! The Clarins Lip Perfector will always be my favourite but these are a very very close 2nd!

New Look Haul

I very rarely go into New Look these days because when I'm in town it's usually for baby bits for Eloise but a couple of weeks ago now I went in with my Mum and had a little spree.

I have been wanting a plain white top for a while and this one is a lovely floaty material with an open back which will be lovely and cool if we ever have a Summer! I think it will also look nice with my neon pink jeans :)

They had a 3 for £7 deal with a huge selection of pants and the prints were just too nice not to buy a few.

They also had an offer running on their jewellery where if you buy one, you get one free so naturally I had to buy 2 things! I got a lovely little set of bracelets which I adore, they're really perfect little beachy type bracelets that will be oh so perfect for the Summer. The necklace I got I also love, I saw it and grabbed it immediately!

As I bought these a couple of weeks ago now I'm not sure the offers are the same but there is my little haul!

Review: No7 Beautiful Skin Hydration Mask

This is something I've wanted to try for a while and when I heard the No7 vouchers were back I headed to Boots and picked up this beauty.

It says it's for dry/ very dry skin and claims to give and intense moisture boost. I have quite combination/oily skin and recently it's been quite tight feeling and dehydrated so I thought I'd give this a whirl.

Overall I'm pleased to say I really like it! It's consistency is quite strange, quite gel like with swirls of creaminess that wobbles slightly on your hand (yes I wobbled my hand haha). It goes on quite clear to the face though and feels hydrating and my skin was noticeably more moisturised when I came to apply my make up the next morning. It says to leave it on for 3-10 minutes and I left it on for 5 as my skin isn't "very dry" but I definitely feel I could have gone the whole 10 minutes so the following week I left if for the full 10 minutes and it did make the flaky patches feel uncomfortable and sting slightly but it left my skin soft and the flaky patches noticeably more hydrated but no intense moisture boost really.

With products aimed at dry skin types I always worry they'll be a bit too rich for my already slightly oily skin but this didn't make my skin look more oily at all.

I think if you have dehydrated skin then this could be for you but if you have very very dry, flaky skin then this might not be as moisturising as you'd need. I have flaky skin on and around my nose and as I mentioned earlier, it stung a bit when I put this on but was fine on the rest of my skin. So over all I would recommend this for those of you with dehydrated skin rather than very dry as this mask is more hydrating than it is nourishing so you drier skin types might need something richer.

Have any of you lovelies tried this? What are your thoughts on it?

Favourite Blogger Hypes #1

Since I've been blogging I have discovered many a great product that I probably would never have tried before I entered this crazy but wonderful world of make up and skincare!

I have gone through my stash and picked out a small collection of favourites I've discovered from reading blogs! I cannot tell you how long this took me to choose just these and a second instalment at least is needed to share the mass amount of amazing products I've un earthed.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers -  I've spoken about these and have reviewed them here so won't go into detail again but what I will say is this - if you don't have these, get them. They are seriously the best bit of kit your eyes will ever have!

Topshop Sunbeam - This is probably the most perfect summer highlight. It's golden tone give that beautiful sunkissed glow to your cheekbones and I adore it. The texture is amazing too, it feels like velvet!

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil - This first of all smells amazing! Second of all it's so moisturising and turns into a lovely milky substance when the water touches it. It doesn't leave your skin oily at all and is amazing for getting a close shave.

17 Mirror Shine Lipstick in Beehive - a super glossy version of Hue to me! It's more comfortable to wear in my opinion too. I always favour a glossy product as I hate my lips feeling caked down so this gets top marks from me lipstick wise! The packaging could be better as the lid feels a bit flimsy and as though it could easily lose its shape.

Bioderma H20 - UH-MAY-ZING. This is the single most amazing product from removing make up that Ive ever tried and my skin loves it!It's a micellar water which is basically water with oils in it that break down your make up rather than smear it all over your face. Don't be scared off by the mention of oils though, they don't leave my skin oily at all.

Revlon Lip Butters - These have been massively raved about in the blogging world and much deserved too! These are the perfect middle ground between a balm and a lipstick making them super wearable and the shades are gorgeous.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish - This is my go to cleanser when my skin is really looking rubbish. I can always reply on this to get sort it out and get my skin feeling good again. The creamy texture makes it a great choice for sensitive skin types too.

Dove Express Treatment Conditioner - Good old Dove, it's always a brand I've been able to reply on and this conditioner is the best of the best in my opinion. I've never tried a conditioner quite as good as this one, usually any hair treatments leave my hair feeling really weighed down and greasy but this is super light but very nourishing. The smell is gorgeous and I just love everything about it really.

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer - This is probably the most raved about concealer for the lower price range at least at it really is a great one! It hides my Mummy dark circles with ease and for £4 is really is a fabulous little thing! Mine seems to have split at the top though!? Now, when i screw the lid back on it all shoots out the top :(

Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector - This has got to be the best lip balm in the whole world ever! I love how it makes my lips feel. I hate feeling heavy products on my lips so rarely wear gloss but this is a prefect consistency to add a nice natural gloss to the lips without feeling sticky or heavy. It really does make my lips look perfect!

What are your favourites?

Review: Caudalie Beauty Elixr

I'd been putting off using this for a while because when I got it and sniffed it...Oh my goodness was it strong! Kind of like a Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish with a tonne of peppermint added to it. It wasn't an unpleasant smell as such, just reeeeeeeeally strong!

I plucked up the courage and sprayed it on a cotton pad and patted it on my face a little and to my extreme surprise, it didn't smell that bad! I sprayed it on my face immediately after and have been pretty much ever since. I am in love.

The smell does fade once it's on your skin to the point where you won't notice it, or at least I don't. I do catch the odd whiff now and again but it really is super light. But the smell isn't important, it's what it does and my gosh! My skin has never looked so glowing! You can use it before you apply your make up after cleansing or at anytime throughout the day so it makes for a lovely refresher in hot weather too! I can honestly say I have noticed so much difference in how radiant it is after only using it for a couple of days! And I can also say that I am actually quite fond of the scent now! Something I never thought I would say that's for sure!

My skin feels less tight, the dry, flaky patches I had on my nose are near enough gone and my skin feels so elastic and just amazing! It's even banished a little friend who appeared on my chin yesterday so basically it's amazing, I love it, go and buy it! :)

Skincare: Overnight Saviours

My skin has been really suffering lately and the weather hasn't helped in the slightest! Note to British weather - sort it out! Sunny one minute, sheets of rain falling from the sky the next! But needless to say my skin has been on the dehydrated side so last night I gave it a well deserves treat.

First of all I cleansed as normal using a combination of Bioderma Crealine H20 and the Clarisonic to double cleanse then I slapped on a bit of this No7 Hydration Mask I picked up the other day in Boots. First impressions wise I love it! I smoothed one pump over my face and left it for 5 minutes whilst I got Eloise ready for bed then wiped it off with a tissue and splashed my face with water. Cue baby soft skin! Proper review coming soon once I've got a real feel for this.

Next I thought I'd give the balance Me Hand Cream that came in this months She Said Beauty box a go and I was very pleasantly surprised! Not greasy at all and sinks in almost immediately! It has a pretty strong lavender scent which I'm not overly keen on but if you can stand the smell it's a really great hand cream!

Lastly I reached for my little pot of heaven AKA Nuxe Reve de Miel. Officially my favourite lip balm at the moment! Although the texture really isn't balmy...ha! It smells like carrot cake to me! Mmmm! Review soon :)

So this little trio were my skin saviours and it's safe to say my skin is much happier this morning! What are your go to products when your skin needs a little extra boost?

6 June 2012

Essie - Lights

The perfect bright nail for Summer don't you think? I love this shade so much! Such a beautiful bright pink just knocking on the door of a neon pink with a semi matte finish. I'm pretty pale still and it makes my skin look darker than it is which is always a bonus! This would look amazing when I actually have a tan though!

The formula of this Essie polish is somewhat runnier than the others I've tried and I managed to ruin a white rug applying this so I wasn't a very happy bunny at all but the colour really is beautiful. It dries reasonably fast and other than the consistency it's easy to work with and not streaky at all. Above I used 2 coats which is enough to make it completely opaque so top marks for that! The extra coat also makes it last a bit longer on natural nails as this chips like heck with just 1 coat but bear in mind I'm a Mummy and Mummy hands never ever stop moving and car seats and teeny tiny little poppers are a nails worst enemy. It lasted about a day before it chipped for me but that was without a base or top coat.

I really love Essie polishes as I have said many a time before but the consistency lets this one down ever so slightly for me but I love it all the same.

REVIEW // LUSH : Dragon's Egg

I'm not massively keen on orange so this didn't really float my boat by my toddler, she loved it! It starts off with the most foamy looking frothy fizz that smells just like sherbet.

The outer fizzes off and exposes a hole in the side which sends it spinning leaving an orange trail and popping candy. The orange looked a little too much like blood  for my liking but my 2 year old loved it! There are little rainbow coloured dragon scales that float off and sit on top of the bath water too which is a nice, fun addition. It turns the bath water bright orange but be warned about the 10 tonne of gold glitter than has sunk to the bottom of the bath! haha!

What's your favourite Lush product?

The Sunday Post #7: Homemade LUSH Scented Moisturiser

If you've read my various LUSH posts you will probably know that my all time favourite products is their Happy Blooming Bath Melt. It is amazing, I love it and I would smell it all day if I could but wished the scent would linger a little more on my skin and I have been longing for a moisturiser or lotion that shares it's scent for ages!

I don't really know why I hadn't thought of doing this before in all honesty but I thought I'd share my little homemade lotion with you!

I'm sure this would work for most of the bath melts LUSH offer so if you're not a fan of Happy Blooming you could try it with the others.

All I did was dig out a fragrance free moisturiser, I chose First Aid Beauty Body Moisturizer because it's my favourite and I had a little sample bottle left over from a GlossyBox which proved perfect for my little experiment. Because my sample bottle was empty I just decanted a small amount of my full sized bottle into it to make it about half full, mixed a tiny slice of Happy Blooming (probably about a centimetre cube) and melted in it a small amount of water (about a cap full) to make it into a paste. I then popped it into the bottle, mixed and voila! Happy Blooming cherry and passion fruit goodness!

I'm not sure of the shelf life of doing this so would advise doing small amounts at a time but this worked perfectly for me! I was a little worried about the pink tint but I'm pleased to say that with the amount I used I've had no problems with it at all.

I adore this little mind child and sit here typing with beautifully scented, amazingly moisturised skin! Yay!

Review: Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers

These fabulous little metal things are a million percent my new holy grail eyelash curlers! I cannot fault them at all! In the past I've not been too fussed about what eyelash curlers I had and usually ended up buying the cheap ones from H&M and didn't think much more about it.

After seeing many many bloggers raving about these little beauties I finally gave in and bought them off Buyapowa so I saved quite a bit of money so the guilt of spending so much on eyelash curlers was slightly lessened haha! But now I have been using these for a couple of months now I can say that I would have been more than happy buying these at full price because these are the Mother of all curlers! I love them!

They feel quite a bit stiffer than the cheaper curlers I've tried so that took a bit of  getting used to and a 2 handed attempt but my gosh do they curl my lashes! I think these are part of the reason I can get my super straight lashes to stay curled all day without using waterproof mascara (video and post coming soon on that!) and I cannot see my make up routine ever not including these!

Essie: Vanity Fairest

I have said it before and I will say it again - I love Essie! Definitely my favourite nail polish brand ever! I adore every polish I own by them and this isn't an exception.

You may have seen this already if you follow me on Instagram but it's such a beautiful shade that I felt it deserved a whole post of its own!

It;s a very sheer pinky colour which builds up easily for a more opaque look although it will need a good 7 coats to be totally opaque I should imagine and I'm not really prepared to apply that many haha! The photo about is 4 coats but they do dry easily and I was able to do things after only 10 minutes drying time which is quite fast for me!

There is a beautiful shimmer to this polish which I totally adore, it's the perfect silvery pink shimmer with just the right amount throughout and just makes the polish look so much more beautiful. I will say this though, tiny little bubble appeared on certain nails. I'm not sure whether I should have left them to dry between coats a little bit longer or maybe I applied a slightly thicker coat, I don't know but it was worth mentioning. It's not really noticeable as you can tell from the photograph but in certain  lights if you look closely you can see the bubbles. It's not enough to put me off using this though and this is easily a favourite now!

LUSH: Big

Since I tried the Seanik shampoo bar I have been a real LUSH shampoo convert! I have tried a few shampoos from LUSH before but these two have been my favourites. So before I go off on one and gush over how amazing their Seanik bar is I shall get back on track and tell you how amazing their Big shampoo is!

I was a bit wary of using shampoo with so much sea slat in it thinking my hair would just dry out and frizz up like no end but I am pleased to say I was very wrong! This makes my hair so unbelievably soft! It cleans so impeccably well and lathers like a dream, oh how it lathers! I used about a 50p sized amount which was more than enough for my hair which falls just above my bum so a little goes a long way with this! The lather is like no other! It is the creamiest feeling softest, biggest lather I have ever encountered with a shampoo before and I am in love!

The grains of salt are pretty hefty and I was expecting them to be a bit scratchy but again, wrong! They really help make my scalp and hair feel squeaky clean! I even skipped a conditioner and my hair is still super soft and shiny!

The scent is quite strong at first but it does go once your hair has dried. It quite an odd scent to describe but to me is smells like orange blossom and the ocean. I'm not overly keen on it but I don't hate it either, I can see it growing on me though! As for volume, my hair was bigger even when wet! I have quite flat hair and the length of it make it appear even flatter but this adds some much needed oomph!

This is just a bit over £10 which is pretty average for LUSH and I will definitely re purchase! If you are looking for a cheaper version of this then check out Seanik! They do smell different though, Big smells both ocean and floral whereas Seanik just has the ocean scent about it. This is definitely up there in my top shampoos!

Top 5: Beauty Box Products

L-R

Nuxe Multi Use Dry Oil
Lolita Lempicka L'Eau en Blanc
Caudalie Vinosource SOS Serum
Clarins Extra-Firming Night Cream
Figs & Rouge Balm

I always tend to do posts and videos about my first impressions when it comes to beauty boxes with the occasional product sneaking into my skincare or make up routine and then a new box appearing with new bits to try. I thought it would be good to actually stop for a minute or two and have a look at the products I've really loved from the boxes I've received in the past.

So first of all we have an oil! I'm not overly keen on oils as they are always a bit too oily for my liking but I've been using this post manicure on my cuticles and have been loving it! It makes them look perfect and moisturises so well without being too greasy. I have the version with the shimmer but once this is used up I will re purchase the one without the shimmer purely because i don't need the shimmer on my cuticles! As you can see I've made it sit so the shimmer sinks to the bottom. Haha! It has a light scent which is almost floral(?) which is pleasant but not really noticeable.

Next we have the surprising perfume sample! Now I usually turn my nose up at 90% of perfume samples in beauty boxes and have never really liked any I've received before but this scent from Lolita Lempicka is beautiful! Lovely and feminine and perfect for summer, it has notes of raspberry, musk and violet which is amazing! The packaging reminds me of fairy tales which maks me love it even more! Thanks Glossybox!

There has been a lot of hype over this serum from Caudalie and rightly deserved! This serum is lovely, it has a gorgeous grape scent to it (that'll be the grape water haha) and my skin just drinks this stuff up! I get quite dry patches on my nose and I have been using this when my skin is really struggling and it's sorted the next day! Amazing stuff although it did seem to make me break out a little if it got onto my cheeks for some reason.

I think if I remember rightly this came in the Valentines GlossyBox and it didn't really excite me much but I used the day version of it and loved it and slapped a bit of this night cream on when my skin went through a bit of a stroppy phase when it was so dry it was peeling and this cleared it up in a night so top marks from me on this one!  It has quite a weird scent to it which I can't quite put my finger on but it's not un pleasant and it isn't really noticeable when it's sunk it. The texture is lovely, thick and creamy like a night cream should be and I have been really loving this when my skin needs a bit of a moisture boost. As for the firming properties by skin felt "juicier" and more plump after using this but as of yet I have no wrinkles to test it on.

Last but not least we have a Figs & Rouge balm! I'm sure everybody has seen/heard about these and you can pick them up from Boots for under £4. The one I have is rose scented which is beautiful! I really love most rose scented products and this has the most natural smelling rose I have ever inhaled from anything other than an actual rose! The texture is pretty surprising too! I was expecting quite a hard substance but it's actually really quite soft, a bit like putty but once applied it is lovely and balmy. It's beautifully moisturising and can be used pretty much anywhere!

So those are my top 5 beauty box products so far! There are a few others I have really loved but I have spoken about them quite a bit before so didn't want to repeat myself here!

* All products are from GlossyBox with the expetion of the Nuxe Multi Oil which came from the last Feel Unique Box

Sunday Post #6: Essie Haul

L-R

Funny Face - a bright fuchsia pink
Lovie Dovie - a creamy medium pink
Vanity Fairest - a sheer wash of baby pink

With Superdrug and their 3 for 2 offer at the moment this purchase was bound to happen! It's my first purchase from their new diffusion line, I usually buy my Essie polishes from US sellers on eBay as it works out a lot cheaper but it worked out pretty good with the the offer so I thought "why the heck not!?" The first two I have wanted for a while and the last was instead of Ballet Slippers as it sold out literally as I was placing my order :(

The diffusion line polishes have a wider brush than regular Essies which makes application a tonne quicker and easier! The formula is amazing, as ever and the colours are beautiful. I'm sure these little beauties will be popping up in NOTDs very soon!

What shades are on your wishlist?

REVIEW // MAC SHY GIRL

This is the first MAC creamsheen that I've really loved the texture of! Strange I know but this one just feels a lot more slippy and less heavy making the application a huge amount more pleasing. It's more velvety in texture and has a more glossy sheen to it.

The shade is a beautiful peachy nude with a golden shimmer throughout although it looks nearly silver in the tube, it really is a "my lips but better" kind of lipstick for me but with an added shimmer which is lovely, especially for the summer.

As with all MACs lipsticks it has a sweet, vanilla scent which is light but you can smell it on your lips. I prefer lipsticks to have no scent or very little and MACs are slightly more scented than I would like but hey ho!

I really love this lipstick and can see it being worn a lot! It's a really effortless lipstick that adds such a nice addition to pretty much any make up look!

Review: Burt's Bees Beeswax & Banana Hand Cream

When I gave this a whiff in the jar is smelt bloody amazing! Seriously seriously amazing, like a banana split,  and I cannot stress how disappointed I was when I tried this out only to find the smell did not transfer onto my skin at all! Just left me with a weird beeswax scent (which is all well and good if you like the smell of beeswax).

I used this to moisturise my cuticles and my goodness it moisturises alright! I left it on for 3 minutes tops before I couldn't stand the smell any longer and they were so moisturised and smooth it was unbelievable! They looked like I'd just had an expensive manicure cuticle wise! So its moisturising qualities I cannot fault, but the smell...Eww. I washed my hands about a million times with various soaps from LUSH to try and rid my hands of the smell to no avail although I will point out my cuticles were still looking nice after said million hand washes.

I love this but wish the banana scent would stick further than the jar!

Review: philosophy purity

I have been really loving this cleanser for the past couple of weeks! I have been using it with my Clarisonic Mia and the consistency is pretty much spot on for me with is creating a slight foam without being over the top which makes my face feel lovely and clean.

I have given a brief description in a recent video but I thought this really deserved a review all of its own!
I was quite afraid of purchasing this after reading a comment online about it smelling like lemon pledge but I can 100% confirm it doesn't smell like that at all! It does have a slight lemony smell and if you really take a strong nose in bottle kind of sniff then it has an ever so slight chemical smell but not enough to put me off using it however I'm not a massive fan of the scent as I'm not a big lover of lemon but hey ho!

The consistency is quite creamy but slippy and takes a bit to foam it up which is a huge plus with a Clarisonic as you avoid the foam up the nose scenario which is always a good thing.

It leaves my skin feeling clean but not stripped although it does feel a tiny bit tight after my face has dried so if you have very dry skin then maybe this wouldn't be for you but you oily/combo skin types this is definitely worth a go!

You can pick this up from Boots although my local store didn't stock it but it is available online. This bottle costs £18 for £236.6ml but you can by a smaller travel sized bottle for about £8.

Review: Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector in Apricot Shimmer

I had been debating whether or not to get this for a while now and by that I mean trying to decide whether £16 for what's essentially a lip balm is really acceptable! haha! I can tell you now that it is! I wasn't really expecting it to be much different to any other lip balm I've tried before but it really is!

I got the shade number 2 which is also called Apricot Shimmer but I don't notice any shimmer to the gloss really but it is an apricot sort of shade but it doesn't really transfer a lot on the lips really but my goodness! They didn't lie when they called it a lip perfector!

The consistency is the most amazing balmy texture which is super light, feels so lovely and has a gorgeous light toffee scent to it! It really makes my lips look perfect! I don't know how they do it but the balm really does some how make my lips look amazing and I love it! It's my go to lip product at the moment because I'm going through quite an anti lipstick phase and favouring lighter, balmy glosses and this is by far the best I've ever tried an it's definitely worth the price tag! In fact, I'm just about to buy the pink version!
