Review: Topshop Coy

I love love love the colour of this Topshop lipstick! It's the perfect pinky peach colour which will be so perfect for the Summer! I have wanted this for so so long and finally gave in last week and I cannot describe how excited I was when my sister handed me a little topshop package that had been sitting in the hall!

It's more of a lip pencil that a lipstick as it comes in a pencil form as you can see in the above photographs which I'm not overly keen on because I am not a huge fan of the way a pencil applies in comparison to a standard lipstick but the amazing colour makes up for that.

The formula of this alone is pretty horrible I must admit, it's so drying and highlights every flaw possible on your lips but add a touch of Vaseline into the mix and you have the most perfect formula ever! What I do is exfoliate my lips then apply a bit of Vaseline and leave to sink in for a couple of minutes then pat it off slightly with my finger and apply the colour and this way I feel in actually improves the overall look of this product. It give a slight more flattering sheen to the lips rather than a matte, dry appearance.

This has no scent whatsoever which is pleasant surprise after the Mr Muscle situation I had with my first Topshop Make Up purchase (see here)!

I am totally in love with this lipstick and have my eye on a few other colours which I shall be buying pretty soon I imagine so expect a couple more reviews on the other shades! I can see this becoming a firm favourite for mine for the coming months!

What do you think of Topshop make up? What's your favourite product?

Review: Revlon Lip Butters in Gumdrop, Sugar Frosting & Cotton Candy

Top-Bottom: Cotton Candy, Gumdrop, Sugar Frosting

So this is my second post on my three latest editions to my little Revlon Lip Butter family! The shades I have this time are:

Cotton Candy: The most beautiful sheer medium pink with golden shimmer. This reminds me of NARS Orgasm so much! It is the most gorgeous colour I've ever seen! The golden tint is quite subtle but it catches the light beautifully.

Gumdrop: A stunning lilac shade which is amazingly buildable. It's an amazing creamy purple with very subtle flecks of silver and pink shimmer.

Sugar Frosting: A lovely sheer, barley there golden pink shade which doesn't give a great amount of pigment to the lips, more a shimmer. This is perfect for an every day colour of to tone down another lipstick.

I adore Revlon Lip Butters and if you haven't tried them I urge you to! They are the perfect lip product for me and I find myself grabbing one of these everyday now! They are the middle ground in between a lip balm and a lipstick giving the moisture and feel of a balm but the pigment of a sheer lipstick. Some of the darker colours I own are actually more pigmented than several lipsticks I have!

Gumdrop isn't one of the shade available in the UK so if you are wanting this shade have a look on eBay because there are a lot of US sellers selling them cheaper (inc postage) than they are over here! I am keeping my eye out for Creamsicle next!

Review: MUA Lipstick in Shade 4

This is fast becoming one of my all time favourite lipsticks and I have included it in previous Monthly Favourite posts but thought it was about time I wrote a whole post dedicated to this little lipstick!

It's by Make Up Academy which is available in Superdrug and it costs an amazing £1! It's a beautiful cool toned baby pink with the most amazing application and texture, it feels like water on your lips but gives a lovely glossy colour to the lips. It's such a pretty girly colour which is perfect for an everyday lip colour and for £1 it's definitely not going to break the bank!

These lipsticks are only numbered and this is shade 4, the only thing I don't particularly like about them is that they aren't named. I tend to prefer a coloured product to have a specific name as I'm more likely to remember it that I would just a number.

I have several other MUA lipsticks and this is by far my favourite! I am putting together a post about all of the ones I have with swatches, etc which should be up soon if you are interested in seeing more of these beauties!

Review: TAAJ Make-Up Remover

I have a huge love, hate relationship with this product and I'm so sad that I have going to have to give in and stop using it because my skin just isn't happy.

This claims to be suitable for all skin types which is a bit of a fib I think because I do not class my skin as dry or sensitive, it's more oily/combo than anything and this stuff dries my face out like no end! My eyelids are so dry they are rough!!

Other than that massive slight issue I really love this as a make up remover! It's brilliant! Removes everything (minus waterproof mascara) completely and leaves my face feeling super clean. It breaks down the make up rather than smearing it over your face which is a huge plus for people who suffer with clogged pores BUT after literally seconds my face is as dry as a bone! My skin will flake and the skin around my eyes will be sore and rough. I can avoid this happening by applying a heavy moisturiser immediately after but I'm not comfortable with using something that requires me to slather my face in tonnes of moisturiser literally immediately after to avoid my face looking like a flaky mess.

So overall this product lives up to its claims to remove make up but not its suitability claims which is a shame because had this not been so drying, I would have re purchased. It's around £17 for a full sized bottle which is slightly over priced for what is essentially posh water. Think I'm going to stick with my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and Bioderma!

Review: Soap & Glory Flake Away

I have been using this for a while now and really thought it was about time I wrote the review it deserved!

This has got to be one of the best exfoliators I've used in a long long time, if not ever! It contains Shea butter, sweet almond oil, peach seed powder, sea salt and sugar which work together to give you amazingly polished but moisturised skin. The scent is pretty but I'm not overly keen on it as it does linger for a long time after use which I don't really like with sweet, musky fruity scents but if you like the classic Soap & Glory scent you'll love it!

Now, sometimes with exfoliators they can leave my skin feeling quite sore and dry but this is so amazingly moisturising! My skin is so so soft after using it which I was really surprised about as it is quite a abrasive looking scrub. It is quite tricky to wash off compared to other body products and if you miss a bit it will leave that part of your skin quite slimy and heavily scented.

Overall I really like it and would really recommend this, it is honestly the best exfoliator I've tried in terms of effect, I'm just not overly keen on the scent but it is growing on me!

Review: Skin79 BB Cream

This is the first proper BB cream I have tried and I have to say, I am in love! I think it may even have pushed my Illamasqua Skin Base Foundation off top! Or any foundation for that matter!

The consistency is quite similar to a tinted moisturiser but it does have a lot more coverage although I would still class it as a light just approaching medium coverage and if you have quite a lot of blemishes on your face you may find you want to use a concealer over the top. It feels so so nice to apply with a slightly thicker texture than a standard moisturiser but it even out my skin tone and minimises any pores and my skin looks so fresh with this on. The texture doesn't cake at all and really sinks into my skin and gives it a lovely natural look which I love!

It comes in the most gorgeous little hot pink bottle with a pump nozzle which I also love as it makes it super easy to control how much product you squeeze out. The actually BB Cream looks a medium beige colour with a greyish tone at first which looks a little scary but I assure you, once you have applied it to your skin it adapts to your natural skin tone and there is not even a hint of grey! My skin is pretty fair and I tend to go for the lightest shade in most foundations but this is perfect. It is so easy to work with and glides on just like a thick moisturiser but sinks in quickly and doesn't leave my face shiny. Because of the consistency if you end up applying too little or too much it's easily sorted by either applying more or massaging it in a bit more as it really sinks in to your skin rather that just sit on to and clog your pores like a foundation so if you suffer from blemishes or product related breakouts it's really worth giving this a try and it really doesn't clog at all.

As for its lasting ability as I sit here I have had this on for a good 11 hours and it's still near enough perfect which can't be said for most of the other face makeup I've tried in the past.

I was a bit apprehensive of BB Creams at first as I was just expecting them to be like tinted moisturiser which majorly put me off because I just haven't go on with the tinted moisturisers I've tried in the past but I am so glad I decided to give it a shot! I really think this is better than foundation for me and I honestly don't think I will go back to foundation! My skin has been so so much better since switching and my complexion is so much more even and I've had hardly any blemishes and the only times I've had some are because my daughter has wiped her greasy little mits on my face haha! So if you are umming and ahhing about trying a BB Cream I urge you to buy this! It cost me £10 off eBay and it's the best £10 I've ever spent!

If you want to have a better idea of the coverage it gives and the overall look of this on my skin then have a little look at my Youtube Channel, I list what make up I'm wearing in the description box and 99% of my videos I am wearing this BB Cream!I will stop raving now because this has turned into quite an essay so to sum the entire post up: BUY THIS BB CREAM! Haha!

Spring: My Top 10 Lip Colours for Spring!

Products Mentioned (in order of the above photograph):

Revlon Lip Gloss in Pink Pop
Lord and Berry Lipstick in 60s Pink
Revlon Matte Lipstick in Pink Pout

Revlon Lip Butters: I won't go into detail here because I have already reviewed these colours, if you are interested in ready/watching my review see here. These three shades are so versatile and are so perfect for spring! Lollipop is a beautiful dark berry pink with blue undertones that is the most perfect lip colour when you are feeling for confident. Sweet tart is a beautiful medium pink with is a little lighter that the Lollipop so great for when you don't feel as brave but want a nice pop of colour. Last but not least Strawberry Shortcake which is a gorgeous muted baby pink which is perfect for an every day lip colour.

MAC Watch Me Simmer: This is such a pretty coral colour and is basically spring in a tube for me! The formula is amazing and beautiful to apply, the pigmentation is out of this world!

Revlon Lip Gloss in Pink Pop: This is a perfect girly sheer pink for a lovely wash of colour on its own to teamed with another lipstick to create a custom shade, I particularly like to team it with Barry M's 147 for a really pretty peachy coral colour.

Barry M 147: This is a peachy pink colour with amazing pigmentation and a matt/satin finish. This is a very strong colour and I like to tone it down with Revlon's Pink Pop on days where I don't want such a bright lip colour. This is my favourite Spring/Summer colour so far and I can see myself wearing this combo a lot! Review here.

Lord and Berry 60s Pink: This is such a pretty bright almost bubblegum pink colour which is so perfect for the Spring and really helps brighten up your make up. I like the finish of this lipstick, it is somewhere between a glossy and satin finish which is really beautiful.

MUA Lipstick in Shade 4: This is a very sheer baby pink colour that applies like a dream! It is almost like applying water to your lips (obviously without it running everywhere but you get the idea) it is so hydrating and glossy. Quite similar to the Revlon Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake but more glossy and more sheer.

Revlon Matte Lipstick in Pink Pout: This is a light muted pink with a purple/mauve undertone to it. I always get compliments when I wear this! The matte finish means you need flawless lips to be able to pull this off so a lip scrub and balm beforehand is a must but it really is a beautiful colour. Review here.

Topshop Lipstick in Innocent: This is pretty similar to Revlon's Pink Pout only the finish is more glossy and it is slightly less muted. I have a bit of a love hate relationship with this lipstick, I love the colour and application but I hate the smell!

So those are my favourite for the coming Spring! What are yours?

Review: Topshop Lipstick in Innocent

After reading many a review raving about the Topshop lipsticks I was really excited when I finally bought one and must admit, I was expecting it to be amazing. I think I'm probably about the only person in the world who doesn't really like these! I love the colour and the pigmentation is good although the texture picks up every flaw on your lips so exfoliating before hand and a good base is a must but I really cannot stand the smell!

The scent is quite difficult to describe, I want to say it smells citrusy but not a nice zingy citrus, I'm talking bathroom cleaner citrus which really does not float my boat in the slightest! I only own one topshop lipstick so I'm not sure if the scents differ at all (if you have a different shade to compare, let me know if they smell the same please!) so this put a real downer on this product.

The actual colour is a pretty baby pink and is called Innocent which fits it perfectly I think.  It's such a pretty girly girl shade.

The packaging is lovely, the casing is made of metal so is very sturdy and the design is so nice and unique, right up my street in that department. I'm so disappointed with the smell of this and I'm not even sure I can disguise it buy putting a scented gloss over the top.

These retail at about £8 which is pretty average for a lipstick and if it weren't for the smell I would definitely re purchase because the formula is quite nice but I don't really enjoy my lips smelling like Mr Muscle.Sorry Topshop, maybe it's just me?

What do you think of Topshop Lipsticks? Do you think they live up to the hype?

Review: MAC Shop Collection: Watch Me Simmer

I am seriously loving this lipstick! It is the most beautiful creamy pinky coral shade which is just perfect for Spring!

The formula of MACs lipstick is like no other, they are so incredibly creamy and the pigmentation is always spot on. The staying power of this particular shade is nothing short of amazing! I am sat here writing this after wearing it for 5 hours having eaten and drank and it still hasn't budged! Of course it isn't as creamy feeling on the lips which is fair enough after 5 hours of wear but the colour is still there! In fact, I still have a stained patch on my hand from where I swatched it yesterday!?

The scent of MACs lipsticks is gorgeous, a lovely light vanilla scent which is delicious! I'm not usually one for liking scented things on my face but this really isn't overpowering and only lasts a few minutes. The finish of this lipstick is quite matte but it does have a slight sheen so I want to say it has a satin finish.

This shade is from MACs Shop Collection and retails at £13.50 which is a bit pricey for a lipstick but if I think that I've spent double that on higher end lipsticks that are nowhere near as good as these!

What do you think of MACs Shop Collection?

GlossyBox: The Harrods Edition

I have a bit of a love hate relationship with beauty boxes lately, I am getting into a habit of really not liking the contents at first and then as I start trying them out I love everything and I'm really hoping that's how this box pans out because I really wasn't too impressed at first! I can never be pleased it seems!

I think it was the hype around this box that really wound me up to unreadable levels of excitement that I ended up not being too enthralled by the contents. Although having said that, as the day has gone on I am warming to a few of the products and I must admit, I kind of like being a bit "meh" with the different products at first because then when I find out they're good it makes it seem even better if you get what I'm saying? Yeh me neither.

The box is a glossy white colour with a green Harrods logo covered ribbon which is lovely. I'm not a big fan of the glossy finish boxes, I much prefer the matt finish ones because I think they look more sophisticated whereas the gloss finish makes it look a bit tacky and the squeaking when I take the lid off really grates on me! haha!

Versache - Vanitas Versache Eau De Parfum:

A luxurious scent from the House of Versache. Vanitas is a rich and voluptuous fragrance with notes of tiare flower, lime and freesia.

This smells so lovely and feminine which is right up my street! I love Versache Red Jeans which was one of my very first perfumes ever and still remains of of my favourites and this is quite similar to that scent which makes in a winner in my books. It comes in a cute little miniature bottle with a stopper on the top which means it probably wont last long before I spill it which is sad but overall it's a really nice light scent which I would make a perfect summer fragrance.

Bliss - Blood Orange and White Pepper Body Butter:

Deeply Moisturising, skin softening naturally rejuvenating body butter in mouth watering blood orange and white pepper.

This really smells like oranges and pepper which is quite strange really! On first smell you get the oranges and then the pepper which knocks you back a bit! I love the bright turquoise colour tube and the simple yet eye catching design.
Revive - Intensite Creme Lustre SPF30:

An intensive, firming moisturiser that helps to reduce the appearance of sagging skin.

I seem to be getting rather a lot of anti ageing products in my beauty boxes which I don't really use as I'm only just 21! But this looks interesting and might be good for under my eyes perhaps? It's just a basic white cream consistency in a little screw topped pot nothing exciting but interesting all the same.
Lancome Juicy Tube in Toffe R 'n' B 93:

Ultra shiny hydrating lipgloss.

I can't stop smelling this! I really love that Lancome Juicy Tubes really smell like what they're supposed to and don't have that horrible artificial smell to them that some scented glosses have. This one smells just like toffee yogurt, you know, that ones that come with the crunchy chocolate bits in the corners? I love them! I don't think I would be able to tell the difference if I smelled them side by side blindfolded! That's how realistic the scents are with these! This shade is called Toffee R 'n' B 93 which is a nude brown colour with gold shimmer throughout it. A really pretty universal shade!

Clarins - Extra Firming Body Cream:

A formula rich in regenerating and firming plant extracts which restore the skin's youthful density and elasticity.

I love a Clarins sample and is this is as good as other products I've tried then I will be a happy bunny! Another anti ageing product though which is quite off putting for me as I'm not what I would consider old! haha! I will give it a try though.

So overall I wasn't particularly thrilled with the contents but as I explained earlier, I psyke myself up and then nothing lives up to the hype which is a bit rubbish but the proof is in the pudding...Or the product in this case. Not that I'm complaining about GlossyBox, I signed up for 5 surprise samples and that's what I got, GlossyBox always delivers in that aspect and there are always one or two things I end up loving as with all the beauty boxes I get! I will let you know how I get on with them and perhaps do one big review post of them all instead of lots of separate ones? Perhaps even just a video? Let me know which you would prefer!
