BEAUTY // LIME CRIME VELVETINES

A little while ago Lime Crime held a 75% off sale so after having my eye on a few shades I jumped at the chance and got all of this for under £20 including shipping.

I am a real convert lately when it comes to lipstick and I much prefer the liquid versions now having once hated them with a red hot fiery passion! I just find them so much easier to apply and the staying power of these is the best I've come across.

These have amazing pigmentation! The colour goes on beautifully, not streaky or patchy at all. The formula is quite wet in comparison to others I've tried which made me worry at first that it was going to be a massive pain to put on but it actually makes application much easier once you've got used to it. I find the wetness helps it glide on much smoother and it dries to a perfect matte finish in about a minute.

Their staying power is the best I've come across and it'll stay put pretty well after eating and drinking. So much so that it is actually bloody hard to remove. I generally use baby wipes because I'm lazy but they really struggle to take it off so you definitely want to be using actual make up remover at the end of the day, or even just coconut oil because the staying power means it needs a bit of extra oomph to remove.

I did find though, that as the day went on it dried up and went a bit crumbly which was weird and a bit gross but pretty standard with matte lip products to be honest. A tip would be to remove the remaining colour and re apply during the day rather than topping it up as that is what led to it crumbling off my lips.

The smell is a strange one, it smells faintly of petrol and vanilla. Not the nicest of scent but definitely not the worst and its not very noticeable when it's on thankfully. I hate anything strongly scented on my lips, I point blank cannot used anything with a very strong scent because it makes me feel so sick but the scent in these, despite it being not so great, doesn't end up being that noticeable for very long at all.

They're also vegan and cruelty free which is always a winner. The shades I got were Polly and the True Love Trio which includes the shades Cupid, True Love and Saint. Reviews with photos of each will be up soon.

Individual Velvetines are normally around £16.00. The trio is around £34

  2. Nice to hear it has got good staying power! How strange that it vaguely smells of petrol though.

  3. I used to adore Lime Crime but have to admit, I threw out 99% of my products when I did some research into the brand and brand owner in particular! xo
