Monthly Favourites // February 2018

Ah it’s that time of the month again; monthly favourites! I don’t feel like I’ve got many new favourites this month, I haven’t tried many new things and everything else has been a bit samey! Especially make up and skin care wise anyway so I’ve put some random favourites together for this month! Enjoy!

Bullet Journal

I wrote a post last week on my favourite bullet journaling picks and I’ve really started making time for my journal this month although I still need to do my March page…Cutting it a bit fine there aren’t I. Anyway, check out my Bullet Journal Picks to have a peek inside a couple of my pages and have a look at my Bullet Journal Inspiration Board on Pinterest.

Vinyl Records

I am a huge fan of anything vintage and I absolutely love my crappy old record player. I have a bunch of LPs, and although I wasn’t born until the 90s I mostly own 80s thrash metal. I do have some more modern ones but generally they’re all tatty old originals which I love.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation

I’ve had this probably far too long but I wanted something a little lighter for a change and grabbed this for the first time in ages and for the past few weeks this is all I’ve worn. I love the smell, it’s lovely and fruity! The coverage is medium I’d say, but super light and glowy. It oxidises a bit but I still love it and it’s perfect for days where I want to feel less like a dogshit but don’t want to crack out my Chanel or NARS foundations.

Poetry has always been a huge love of mine but with kids, home edding and general life I don’t have much time to read but lately I’ve been reading and listening to a lot more poetry and it’s been lovely. Button Poetry is an amazing channel for spoken poetry and I could spend hours listening, my favourites are:

Neil Hilborn – OCD

“…When you have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, you don’t really get quiet moments.
Even in bed, I’m thinking:
Did I lock the doors? Yes.
Did I wash my hands? Yes.
Did I lock the doors? Yes.
Did I wash my hands? Yes.
But when I saw her, the only thing I could think about was the hairpin curve of her lips..
Or the eyelash on her cheek—
the eyelash on her cheek—
the eyelash on her cheek.
I knew I had to talk to her…”

Sabrina Benaim – Explaining Depression to My Mother

“…Mom, my depression is a shapeshifter
One day it’s as small as a firefly in the palm of a bear
The next it’s the bear
On those days I play dead until the bear leaves me alone…”

William Evans – Manifest Destiny

“…When you said she never actually told you no, you meant you didn’t think it was important to ask…”

Olivia Gatwood – Ode to My Bitch Face  (introduced to me my babe Eileen)

“…bitch face is cutting off the ladder willing to burn in the apartment if it means he can’t get in…”

Some of my favourite poets are E.E Cummings, Charles Bukowski, Richard Siken and Sarah Kay.

Nakd Bars

I wasn’t that fussed by these when I first tried them, I can’t remember what flavour I tried but I wasn’t overjoyed by it to say the least but these ones are lovely. They have a nice chocolatey taste and are completely vegan..

Survivors – This basically has the same kind of storyline as a zombie series…but without the zombies. I binge watched 2 seasons in less than a week and the ending sucked and I doubt there will be a third season because it was filmed like 10 years ago. It’s like The Returned all over again! Wah!

I’ve been really loving 90s rock this month. Well, I loved it anyway but I tend to go through phases when it comes to music. I won’t listen to something for ages then it’s all I will listen to for days. Check out my Spotify to have a look at what I’m listening to although I’m still in the middle of putting together some public playlists so it’s a bit bare!

Definitely going to nosy through your spotify later, I need some new song inspiration. And I’d completely forgotten about the healthy mix serum foundation, I used to love that, I’ll have to go and repurchase some as it was my favourite last year.

Such a great variety of Favourites! I haven’t tried that foundation before actually, I’ll have to give it a go x

I might give that foundation a try, my Estée Lauder is running out and I’m after something cheaper. Love the idea of bullet journaling, I’m not sure I’m artistic enough for it though!

I’m dying to try a bullet journal, I feel like I need to bite the bullet (lol) and just get one finally!!

I have started a bullet journal and it’s such a good idea. Oh my goodness I’m obsessed with nakd bars thanks to Hannah Gale.
