Firstly, I cannot believe how quickly this year is going already! I remember as a kid the years DRAGGED, but since becoming a Mum the clocks went into overdrive or something because damn are these years flying by! Secondly, I cannot believe it’s been 4 years since I last uploaded a Valentine’s Day Make Up Look?!
Make up wise, I’ve gone pretty simple and natural, I always worry about putting a shit tonne of slap on when Valentine’s Day is about romance and romance usually includes kissing and fondling and no one wants to look like they’ve slipped face first into the make up counter in Boots after “wrestling” under the sheets.
These are the products I used:
Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation
I’m really loving Rimmel Perfect Match at the moment. It has quite a light “moisturiser” texture and when I first got it I felt like my skin was too dry because it does have a habit of clinging to any dry patches and it looked really “off” on my skin but since upping my moisturising routine my skin has been a lot less thirsty and this foundation has been my go to for just an everyday kind of thing. I find with this, as long as I use a moisturiser beforehand, I can get away with not using a primer. Obviously it looks smoother with a primer but it doesn’t absolutely *need* one so it’s perfect for just chucking on in the mornings.
The Make Up Revolution concealer is my new fave, I didn’t think I would see the day when my trusty Collection 2000 would get over shadowed but this beauty is flipping amazing. It’s very similar to Tarte Tape Shape and for £4, it’s a bargain. It doesn’t lose coverage as you blend it and it’s ability to hide 8 years of sleep deprivation is second to none. Really, really rate this stuff.
I talk about a bunch of these products in my Birthday Haul over on YouTube if you want to have a little look there.
The Phil Smith Hair Total Treat range* is my current go to for my hair care routine. It’s nourishing without weighing your hair down meaning you still get that squeaky clean feeling in the shower and super soft, shiny hair though so no perks lost. I find a lot of repair shampoos leave my hair feeling greasy and limp but this is clarifying enough to make sure that doesn’t happen. All of these products are enriched with argan oil making hair super soft and smooth, you can pick these up in good old Sainsbury’s.
The Tangle Angel Pro* is also keeping my hair in check! Since it lives in a Mum bun 87% of the time, it gets super knotty and is literally nightmare to brush. With a combination of the Phil Smith Argan Oil and the Tangle Angel have been taming the utter shame on the top of my head AKA my hair. It’s also beautiful, I mean just look at it.
