So me and Ben have been engaged now for what feels like approximately 5000 years and I have done very little to organise said wedding and kind of just want to do a vegas jobby and get it over and done with because DAMN! Planning a wedding is complicated! I have been creating various Pinterest boards with tonnes of beautiful dresses, themes, colours, everything but not really getting anywhere with actual planning but I’ve racked up about 1000 hours extra Pinterest time, haha. I have, however, got a few of the less minor details well on the way and I thought it would be fun to share the pitiful amount of planning I’ve got done over the last few years!
I’m really wanting to go for quite a boho vibe for my dress and these Harriet Wilde numbers from Lace & Favour (who have loads of absolutely gorgeous occasion shoes!) are practical and stunning as hell. They’re the most beautiful shade of gold and the pattern is even more beautiful and I can’t wait to find a dress that matches their boho vibe. I am really leaning towards a pink champagne shade for the dress which I think will look so lovely with the gold in the shoes.
I thought it would be fun to look over some of the songs I have on wedding playlist and why they’re on there.
First Dance – I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You – Kurt Hugo Schneider Cover
The One – Kodaline
“Tell me, tell me if you want me,
and I’ll be yours completely,
for better or for worse”
Perfect – Ed Sheeran
“We were just kids when we fell in love,
not knowing what it was”
Runaway – We The Kings
“So come on and runaway with me,
you are the only thing I need,
you are my lungs, my air,
the oxygen I breathe”
Close Your Eyes With Me – Chester See
“I know your tired mind is worn down
So let’s not waste our lips
On words we think we’ve missed
Only thing for sure
Is you’re here now.”
This is one of Ben’s ones so naturally, I asked him to write the reason why he’s included it in our playlist and he went next level soppy: “I like this particular section of the song because the tired mind reminded me of the shit you’ve been through, and the words we think we’ve missed part is because we spent months expressing our love as much as we could that it felt like we were trying so hard to prove to each other that we’re happy with one another and still trying to win each other over when we already had won.”
Be Still – The Fray
“If you forget the way to go
And lose where you came from
If no one is standing beside you
Be still and know I am”
All of The Stars – Ed Sheeran (Andrew James Cover) – Ben was working on this music video that he had filmed quite early on into our relationship, just as I fell pregnant with Lily, and the number of times I listened to it playing over and over as he was editing the video couldn’t do much else other than make me fall in love with it.
We also have a collection of songs that are in there for no other reason than they are our favourite songs:
Helium – Alex Goot
God of Wine – Third Eye Blind
Kashmir – Led Zeppelin
Wish You Were Here – Pink Floyd
Iron Maiden – These Colours Don’t Run
I Will Follow You Into The Dark – Kurt Schneider Cover
Are You Gonna Be My Girl – Jet
Castle On The Hill – Kurt Hugo Schneider Cover
Kings and Queens – 30 Seconds To Mars
Beneath Your Beautiful – Sam Tsui & Alex G
The flowers are quite possibly the most exciting part for me, I bloody love flowers and it’s always been a dream of mine to own a florist down by the sea. That will probably never ever happen but I still get super excited about flowers. I have a little list of blooms I want to be included in my bouquet that I have narrowed down a billion times because the first one was honestly so long it wasn’t even funny. I feel like I’ve kind of decided on a vintage pastel kind of colour scheme for the flowers, some peonies, peachy ranunculus and maybe something a dusty blue in there. I do absolutely love the look of wildflower bouquets too so basically what I think I mean is that I have no idea what I want still really, haha. I love all the flowers so much and that, coupled with being quite possibly the most indecisive perfectionist ever, well let’s just say that ain’t a great combo for planning anything haha. Definitely want the vintage pastel kinda vibe though!
I hope this very indecisive blog post has been interesting, I feel like it’ll be a good one for me to look back on whenever we do finally get hitched and seem how our actual wedding differs from my plan because I’m guessing it’ll be a lot! Hah!
