August 2019 Goals

It seems like ages ago that I wrote my July goals, so far this year has gone so quickly I feel like I could blink and I’d miss it but July seemed to D R A A A A G. I don’t think the random heatwave helped because that week felt like forever, I never want to experience 36 degrees in England ever again thanks because bloody hell I was melting! I’m hoping August is cooler, even if that means rain because after cooking that day I will take rain over anything at the moment! Anyway, I haven’t really thought much about this months goals because I’ve been concentrating a lot on getting home ed stuff ready as well as something a bit exciting that I am sitting on at the moment so I can’t tell you yet but I hope you’ll be as excited as I am about it!

August Goals…

home ed planning | as the school year comes to a close for most people, for us it means planning for the year ahead. We do slow down our workload over the summer but we don’t stop so I have various topics planned for over the “holidays” but it’s the end of July that marks a new academic year for us. This year I’ve spoken about how I’m trying to plan it all so Lily is involved more in preparation for when she “officially” starts her home education journey at 5 so planning is a bit harder so far as I’ve not quite found my groove yet which is exactly why I wanted to start early. So far I’ve written a bunch of topic plans in a notebook for Lily in the hope a lot of them I can alter to make them more complex and detailed for Eloise too but we shall see. I have a feeling it’s going to take me a while to find a way that works because of how big their age gap is and how completely different their learning styles are.

book piano lessons | If you follow me on Instagram then you might have seen some videos of Eloise playing the piano and basically she has taught herself so much in such a short space of time, you can literally tell her a song, she will listen to it and be able to play some of it in about 5 minutes and basically she has so much talent and she has no idea. This is something we have been wanting to do for a while and she’s so excited to start so my job for this month is to find someone who fits the bill!

complete #100bookstogether challenge | I’m not sure if this is a home ed only thing because we discovered it in a home ed group but either way we started this last week and are already more than halfway so this isn’t really that much of a challenge for us as we read together a lot but it’s fun to log what we have read together (blog post imminent, haha).

That’s a wrap for this month, I feel like the home education planning is more than enough to eat into the majority of my time this month and seeing as I’ve sucked majorly at keeping up with my goals maybe this month I will be able to tick them all off!
